21. Half a Pemma Sighting!!

Our Orientation Leader issued a challenge to the group during Welcome Week: every time one of us sees either Patrick or Emma, aka Pemma (the student leaders of Welcome Week) we're to take a picture of them. Today I saw Emma on West Bank but I panicked and by the time I realized I needed photographic proof, she had already passed me. That's her, in the blue jacket and the red backpack.

20. You Handsome Devil, You

I had some downtime before a class so I was sitting in a public study area and looked up to find the white board had a great message on it: Connor everyone <3's you! You handsome devil, you.

Twin Cities Veg Fest

Today I went to the Twin Cities Veg Fest and these are a few of the T-shirts that they had for sale there. I love them all but I especially like that Hail Seitan, Go Vegan one in the upper right corner there. 

Awkward Family Photos

I took portraits of my roommate and her brother today for their mother's birthday. It was equal parts awkward and fun.

19. Nash Gallery

For my art class we went into the Nash gallery on campus. I love this piece entitled We Are All Criminals. Along with this set of digital photographs, the piece also asks  people to write on a piece of paper what crimes they've committed and post them up on the wall in a similar fashion to these pictures. 

18. Flat Tire

My tire popped today about 30 seconds into my bike ride home. I had to walk it across the bridge clunking all the way.

17. Candy Corn

I got called away from my homework because my roommates were asking if I wanted candy corn...I came out to find that the "candy corn" was an old carrot...thanks guys. 

16. Radio K

The University radio station had an hour of impromptu music performances this afternoon on the West Bank to promote their station. 

15. The Short Life of our Beautiful Fridge

We've been having trouble with our fridge all semester (I can't even tell you the number of times I've talked to how many different people about it). They finally decided to do something about it and that something they plan to do is give us a new fridge. Great! Except my roommates and I spent HOURS putting all those paint chips on the fridge in visible spectrum order all the way around the front and sides... 

Housework

Today Brittney and I spent a good half an hour making her lofted bed. It actually took some real physical exertion to get all her sheets and blankets up there and tucked in just right. We probably won't do it again until next semester... 

Breakfast with the Crew

The Men's Rowing team had breakfast all together at the residence hall restaurant and at the end of the meal, we stacked all of our cups. We were 30 cups strong before we got yelled at by an employee and had to turn them all back in. 

14. Ransom?

This creepy creeper held my bike hostage today.

13. Tonsils

Two of my roommates have sore throats so all four of us had a throat-checking party in the bathroom. Yes, we're weird. 

12. And the Wheels Keep Turning

So there was a casual hubcap hanging out in the median on East River Road today.

11. Stowaway

This little guy was hiding out in my computer case while I was working on some homework outside. I think he wanted to go to class with me.

10. Sidewalk Sale!

Today was the Bookstore's annual Sidewalk Sale. They set up a bunch of sale priced merchandise on Coffman Plaza. My favorite stuff is the soft goods :)

1800 mile Walk to Cure Diabetes

Today my team Walked to Cure Diabetes...in Virginia. They FaceTimed me so I could be a part of it too!

Experience Minnesota

Today I was looking very official in my Admissions Ambassador quarter-zip and name tag as I helped to escort over 1600 prospective students around campus today :)

9. Art is in the Air

Today for my art theory class we walked around campus and documented what we considered to be art. It was a lot of fun!

8. Fire!

This bad boy decided to die at 7:00 this morning. Every 38 seconds there would be a loud, resounding ping that could be heard from anywhere in the apartment. We finally got it to stop at 11:00 pm after we called a tall friend to come and push the button that none of us could reach.

7. Driving Me Crazy

  I had an interesting day today. The goals were simple: get a Minnesota driver's license and get Minnesota plates for my car. I took the not so simple way to get there...

Woodbury DMV

Eagan DMV

First, I searched for the local DMVs to figure out which one is the closest that offers both the services I needed. Minneapolis was the closest. When I got there, the building was a giant government sky-scraper and parking was going to cost an arm and a leg and I couldn't find a spot anyway. I drove around the parking ramp for 10 minutes before I just left. I drove down the road until I found the highway then I took the highway until I found an exit I knew and then I was back on campus. I pulled over and googled again for DMVs but this time I looked for ones closer to Woodbury (familiar territory). I found one! I drove there. They were able to help with the plates but not the driver's license. Since the plates were the more pressing issue, I was okay with that. Once back in the parking lot of the Woodbury DMV, I plugged the address of the Eagan testing center into the GPS and I was off (I had heard through cousins and co-workers that Eagan was the nicest when administering a test). When I finally got there, I was a little lost on the procedure of how to get an application for a license and fill it all out and all that jazz but not worry. It all turned out well in the end (even if the Eagan DMV lady wasn't actually all that nice).

I passed and now I have MN plates and a MN license :) I am an official MN citizen (kinda...).

6. ...and We're Back!

I know school has technically been in session for about a week now, but today was the first day I went and ate my Jacob Bluefinger in Coffman before I had to head to work. The piano, the sandwich, and the smell of hand-sanitizer brought me back.

5. Phone home

My sister's a cutie. I miss her dearly and love the time I spend with her on the phone. 

Homework

This was my view all day. I left my desk once for all of thirty minutes to go outside and enjoy the GORGEOUS weather.

Football game today against Middle Tennessee State! Minnesota won 24-35 :)

4. Party on the Plaza

Goldy and Jerry Kill were hanging out on Coffman Plaza today for the Party on the Plaza to kickoff football season. It was a pretty pleasant surprise - I forgot the party was happening today and I was very glad to walk in on it just as the band started playing.

Today I dropped a small fortune on textbooks...oh the joys of college.

I looked like a freshman hardcore today carrying my map around... that's what happens when your first class of the semester is in a building you've never heard of before.
